Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 13, 2026
These Terms govern your use of Sahara ("the Service"), an informational tool that helps family caregivers understand a patient's health record. By connecting a health record or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What Sahara is — and is not
Sahara reads health data you authorize through your patient portal (such as MyChart) and produces a plain-language summary for caregivers. Sahara is informational only. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for professional clinical judgment. Always confirm anything in a digest with the patient's care team. Never use Sahara for medical emergencies — call your local emergency number.
2. Authorization and proxy access
You may only connect a health record that you are legally authorized to access — your own, or a patient's record to which you hold valid proxy access granted through the health system. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to access and view that information.
3. Privacy and data handling
Sahara does not store medical records. Health data is fetched on demand to render the dashboard and generate a digest, then discarded; digests are not saved. A short-lived, encrypted session holds the access token issued by your health system so you don't have to sign in on every action. See our Privacy Policy for full detail. To generate a digest, the structured summary is processed by Anthropic's Claude API over an encrypted connection; it is not used to train models and is not retained by Sahara.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to access records you are not authorized to view, to attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the Service, or in any way that violates applicable law or your health system's terms. Sahara is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any health system or Epic Systems Corporation.
5. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. Health data is presented as received from the health system and may be incomplete or delayed. Sahara does not warrant that digests are accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sahara and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any decision made in reliance on information presented by the Service. Health decisions must be made with a qualified clinician.
7. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms; material changes will be reflected by the date above. You may stop using the Service at any time and revoke Sahara's access from your patient portal's connected-apps settings.
